This is the earliest form of human history, most affected and longest a consumption. Can say, since when mankind produces to this day, the consumption are all more or less, or strong or weak affect people's consumption behavior and consumption patterns. Chinese and foreign economic history, the frugal consumptive idea thinkers and numerous school, but from the existing information, see, China's economic history that "the thrift thinkers and scholars seems to be some more. A Chinese history is said spending a Chu chung of history and extravagant spenders I'm afraid and much. Of course, this is not said China's consumer history have no other spending, but that advocates thriftily, against luxury, it is China's consumer the mainstream thoughts. In the 20 century before mankind overall production capacity still rather low, this makes the material wealth hard-won, support human life life data is very scarce. In order to seek survival and development, people can only leave no stone unturned to life of the economy of data. To do so we can make limited consumer material maintain more people's survival, to the production process and put more production material. Material determines consciousness, thought reflect the reality, thus they generate far-reaching consumer history, of enduring frugal consumptive idea. Frugal consumptive idea to the development of human society huge role, work not died. In the level of social productive forces rather low, it is extremely short time of the materials, it is with material material cost-effective use of that man had a long hard times, just be breeds and development to this day. If human ancestors, poor luxury desire, spend too recklessly, human would have for wealth drained and destroyed. As an example, once its of the ancient Greek is in people's arrogant excessive is high, the decline in crumble completely.
So value and maintain your Mulberry handbag, and save the resource.

We had plans for the next day at the mall. Imagine all that fun, we spent weekends window shopping, buying make-up or shoes and doing all the girlie stuff. Who else would understand our passion of flipping through the pages of the fashion magazine and getting the latest right away when we had the time or money or the energy. Just kidding!! Like I said earlier, we were not fashion freaks. And that was what made us separate from others. If you are a major in finance – you’ll know what I am talking – no money squandering. Besides, we believed saving was a good habit.

The café on the corner left of the street, a few blocks away from our favorite mall was our meeting point. We’d not just have some coffee, but chat a little and then go shopping. I selected a table next to the window as it’s interesting to watch the street walkers. It was a weekend, so no one seemed to be in a hurry. And it was a pleasant day – sunny and windy, playing hide and seek in the sky.

We smiled at each other with excitement and glint in our eyes for the wonderful day that we had to ourselves! Although, I wanted to learn more about her and understand where she came from, I knew I was not in a hurry and we’d do all that gradually.

We got ourselves two hot cappuccinos and we were good. There was a young couple sitting right opposite to us, with my back facing them. I saw Felicia smile back at them. I looked back, and they were still smiling. Of course she did not know them.

Felicia had lived in different parts of the world in the last few years. She lived in India for a year, the middle-east for a couple and the US later. She had great interest in different cultures and tried to learn as much as possible about others by asking interesting question. Like I mentioned earlier, she instantly connected with people and made friends easily.

I, on the other hand had seen a lot and traveled too, but it was mostly in and around India. I loved meeting new people and although I connected with a few souls, it was not as deep as Felicia did. She could instantly know what was going on in the other person’s mind and react in the most soothing way possible. How instinctive, like a psychic. Her mother was one and so I guess it just got passed down to her.

I asked her to tell me more about that later. Right now, I had my eyes set on this handsome guy who walked into the café with a girl next to him. He knew how to walk the walk that I can say…heading straight to the counter, he reached out to his back pocket of his destroyed jeans and pulled out his wallet. He did have a great body, probably worked out thrice a week. Felicia noticed how totally distracted I was. She quickly reminded me – he’s taken by pointing at the ring on his finger. I was amazed and amused…how quickly she noticed things.

He turned around, smiled at the both of us and walked out as if he exactly knew what our conversation was about.

Rough CopY

Felicia was not just pretty to look at. There was something deep and mysterious about her that attracted people’s attention to her and made them do things for her. She dressed very ordinarily, not too revealing or stylish, just proper for the occasion. She belonged to a mediocre income range family and was brought up pretty much in a middle class society.

We met at one of the art galleries while I was on a second time date with a handsome lad who was research student in commerce discipline. We did not have much in common but he was charming and always loaded with plenty of nice things to say. Bottom line, he had stories to tell from his own personal experience and there was not a dull moment.

We bumped into Felicia as she stood there staring at the portrait of a modern art…I normally don’t pay much attention to things that don’t make sense to me. Contemporary art holds little value to my senses.

Felicia had been interacting with me for a couple of months. We were working on a project together as an internee at one of the financial management firms. We made a good team – her ability to see things in a wide view angle and my eye for detail – we covered our subject in entirety. I really enjoyed working with her, not because she was subdued or passive but more because we shared common interests. Both of us were aggressive in our pursuits.

I was always curious though…There was something striking about her persona. People loved to be in her company and she could hold her listener’s attention for an unsual amount of time. What gave her that power over others? What made her stand out from others? How did she get her way from people? The best things are for free, they say but we are all so used to paying a price for the things we want.

A lot of questions stuck out in my mind as I began to notice her from head to toe and tried comparing her with other women.

From what I seized up, she did not wear expensive jewellery, drove a beautiful car or had money to throw. Her external appearance was nothing unusual as such. Only she made the best out of her situations. There was something alluring about her that made her connect to people instantly. People would beam with delight, wanting to be at service for her. It made me smile…and wonder!! Honestly, I was way better than her…atleast I knew how to dress well, put my best foot forward and appear striking externally. But I lacked something, you could tell that!!

....to be contd!

Some thoughts about happiness:

•	Happiness is a state of mind, it doesn't reside in objects.
•	Nobody can make you happy, except yourself!
•	The fountain of happiness is inside of you. Don't try to find it outside. This search is in vain.
•	The origin of stress is in your mind. Without the understanding and control of your mind, it's impossible to eliminate the stress.
•	Nobody can make you unhappy, unless you allow them to.
•	Happiness is measured by the spirit in which you face life's challenges.
•	Happiness doesn't come when you do what you like, but when you like what you do.
•	Happiness is like perfume: you can't pulverize it on others without being touched by few drops.
•	The best way to stay happy is to make sure that others are happy as well.
•	The tension and unhappiness are not objects, things or situations. They are our reactions generated by things and situations.

20 Secrets of Happiness

1. Mental concentration
A powerful mind is not easily affected by the challenges of life. Mental concentration means to learn how to live in the present moment, which is the best way to reach happiness and success in life.

2. Detachment and the ability to let go
Some people can concentrate and be absorbed completely during one activity, but it's hard for them to forget that activity when they start another one. We must remember that the only reason for various things, actions and events in our life is to give us the lessons and training necessary for our evolution. We must use them for our progress without attaching to them too much. It is said that" Although it's useful to remember sometimes, it's often wise to forget."

3. Planned thinking
Make sure that from time to time your thinking is planned and structured and not chaotic.Chaotic thinking and dreaming with open eyes it's a sign of a weak mind. It shows that instead of controlling your subconscious mind, you are controlled by it. Your conscious mind should always stay active and alert, being in control over your subconscious mind. Make sure you keep only the thoughts you want to have in that moment.

4. Positive thinking
The way we think is the most important factor in building your personality and character. Make a habit in seeing the positive aspects of things and events, even in the most unhappy situations. Negative thinking weakens the mind, makes it agitated and impure. Having a positive thinking, you will attract always favorable conditions, through the law of resonance. Staying always positive, you will create an aura of good vibrations around you which is beneficent not only for you, but for people around you as well.

5. Take it easyWe use to take things too seriously. We should rather realize that there are no permanent difficulties or problems. All will pass some time sooner or later. Everything is changing. Nothing is static or permanent, including your problems.

6. There is a reason for everything, nothing is random
The Universe has a certain order and everything is linked through the law of cause and effect. For every effect there is a cause. Everything which happens today is there because you saw some seeds there in the past. Change your attitude towards the confrontation with various problems in life. Don't look at them like a burden which comes from nowhere. Look at them as modalities for progress and growth and stay focused in success/failure, gain/loss so that you stop another karmic link to create. The events in our life are not as important as our attitude towards them.
"The world is not good, not bad. It all depends by the way we react to it."

7. Silence, solitude and introspection
Try to make time every day for a silent, peaceful time and dedicate some time just for you. Through silence you preserve your mental energy. Talk only as much as it is necessary. Avoid gossip, arguments and useless conversations. There must be a reason and a sense in everything you say. A lot of mental energy is lost in useless discussions.

8. Conquer your fears
Fears are great consumers of mental energy and they are also major blockages for our progress. According to the Law of Attraction or The Law of Resonance, we attract in our life the things and situations which we are mostly afraid of. Keep in mind that there is nothing in this world you should be afraid of . No situation is ever as frightening and painful as our imagination makes out of it.
Confront every life challenge with a positive attitude and trust in yourself and God.

9. Don't maintain inferiority complexes. What others can do, so can you!
Many people have inferiority complexes, considering that they can't do what others do. They don't trust themselves. You must understand that the ultimate potential is the same for all of us.
Don't compare yourself with others and don't feel inferior or superior to others. In fact we are all One in essence!

10. When you are provoked, don't respond immediately
Every time when you feel troubled because of some unexpected problems or some bad remarks of others, avoid reacting immediately or respond to them. Wait a little, refrain to say or do something as long as the trouble still persists in your mind. It's better to leave that place and stay alone for few minutes, silently. Calm down and try to see the problem from all perspectives. If you need to respond, be polite and respectful.

11. Don't charge your subconscious with negative thoughts
Your subconscious mind is a huge deposit for your conscious mind. Everything you see, hear, think, feel and experiment is deposited here, as permanent memory. Together with the feelings and impressions we deposit negative emotions and feelings like hatred, jealousy, anger and others. The remedy is to send to your subconscious mind only positive emotions and thoughts. This will destroy the negative thoughts and emotions. The positive is always more powerful than the negative.
Remember that the source of troubles are not our actions but our reactions.

12. Be always optimistic
It doesn't matter how many times you failed in reaching a goal. It's important to stay positive and trustful in your success. There is no force which can stop you from reaching success, if you are dedicated to a noble cause.
Remember that no effort is in vane. Even if the situation seem to be a disaster, don't give up. Keep trying. You never know how close you are to success.

13. Learn to say NO
Your courage to say NO can save you from some unpleasant situations. You have an independent personality which can stand up like a rock if truth is on your side. Some people are afraid that if they say NO to a person, they will feel offended. But if that person has a negative attitude generally, she will see everything as negative, no matter what you would say. Instead of concentrating on others, it's better to concentrate upon what you are doing, seeing if that action is good or bad from the point of view of your spiritual evolution.

Read more on my blog Open Your Heart Project:

http://openyourheartproject.blogspot.com/2011/10/20-secrets-of-happiness.html

I watched the Lunar Eclipse on the 20th/21st from Eagle, AK while doing field site maintenance for the University of Alaska Fairbanks. It was -23F. I poked my head out of the equipment hut every 10 or 15 minutes to watch it while getting the aurora monitoring equipment running for the season. At 11:30 I was back at the town and it was during totality. I could see the faint moon, to the left was the constellation Gemini, below and to the right was all of Orion just on the horizon. It was a site to behold. The next morning, the moon was still setting behind the hills. Unfortunately, I did not have a camera that would take the shot.

14/02/2011

Last night, the night sky was lit up brightly. It was as if the moon was having a conference.

Six bright stars form a hexagon around the bright moon to form a constellation called The Winter Circle. There are totally 88 recorded constellations out of which this one is not mentioned, so they call it an asterism/pattern because its so prominent and hard to miss.

Anyways, I located Aldebaran correctly last night. There are two bright orange-red stars in the sky - one is Aldebaran and the other is Betelgeuse.

Did you know stars have a lifespan too? Scientists say that Betelgeuse is running out of fuel and might explode anytime soon. It can be now or a few millions years later. But the view would be spectacular, because it would be a supernova explosion.

The Orion's belt is quite prominent and acts as a pointer to find rigel - another bright bluish star. Stars do have different colors depending upon their temperature.

What's interesting is that the moon's surface has these grey patches that is called Maria, formed due to impacts caused by various crater, asteroids and comets. Now that could have happened to our planet earth too, if not what for the atmosphere that protects us. The moon sadly does not have such an atmosphere to protect itself. There are different names of Maria which you can look up on google.

Some scientists believe that the moon is a part of the earth that got separated from it when the earth was hit with a mars sized object. But thats a theory they formed after studying a moon rock.

13/02/2011

Last night, star gazing was exhilirating. I would have preferred an interesting partner by my side to share this experience but instead I was accompanied by big fat mosquitoes that were so annoying. The blood suckers kept buzzing in my ear. It took a while to settle down as I got my binoculars to focus on the sky.

I put my mat on the floor and lay down so I wouldn't get a neck sprain at the end of my pursuit. I was trying to find the bull's two horns, the bright stars eldebaran(bull's eye) and elnath. I thought I could draw an imaginary line and make the shape as I had drawn it on a piece of paper.

A few minutes past, the sky was a heavenly abode filled with twinkling stars and the mysterious moon shining right on my face. What a sight - absolutely gorgeous. I felt jealous of the people who own a telescope and live out of the city.

I thought I saw eldebaran(the fiery red star) as it was described in the website I am following until i checked this morning. I think what i spotted was Betelgeuse which is also a bright red star right opposite to the Orion's belt. Ohhh, it was beautiful though with the waxing moon gibbous right next to it. A sight to hold. I held my breath for a while, (well yeah - I am such a drama queen, but that's me)

The famous Orion's belt as some of you may already know is three bright stars in a short straight row with equal distance from each other. Can't miss it.

First time in my life, I ever tried to draw imaginary lines in the sky - let my imagination loose and just have fun. I want to do this more often.

Some tips for the first timers:

1. The good news is You don't need a bloody telescope to spot stars. Most of them are visible with a decent binoculars.

2. If you don't have a set of binoculars - jeez...just find the moon and gaze at it for a while. That's relaxing.

3. Know how to find the pointers such as the Orion's belt, north star and others. They show direction.

4.
On Web, FCC seeks middle course

New Internet access rules approved by federal regulators on Tuesday prohibit network operators from meddling with Web traffic into American homes but do not extend to the fast-growing market for smartphones and tablet computers. The regulations passed the Federal Communications Commission along party lines, with two Democratic commissioners reluctantly siding with agency Chairman Julius Genachowski in a 3-2 vote. The rules seek to uphold a principle called net neutrality, under which Internet service providers are supposed to give equal treatment to all legal Web content on their networks. But the measure met with swift oppositionTuesday.Republican lawmakers immediately promised to work to overthrow the rules, while analysts predicted that cable and telecom giants will file lawsuits challenging the FCC's authority to regulate the broadband market.Genachowski, who had aggressively pushed for the rules for more than a year, did get the support of President Obama, who said the measure fulfilled an election campaign promise for net-neutrality regulations.

"Today's decision will help preserve the free and open nature of the Internet while encouraging innovation, protecting consumer choice, and defending free speech," Obama said in a statement Tuesdayad_icoUnder the rules, broadband providers are barred, for example, from blocking streaming videos from providers such as Netflix or slowing purchases from retailers such as Amazon. The rules leave open the possibility of network operators charging higher rates to Web sites, such as YouTube, for better delivery of content. However, the rules for the most part do not apply to wireless carriers, which have increasingly become the main providers of Internet connections for smartphone users. The exemption of wireless broadband provoked criticism from Genachowski's allies in the consumer groups that have long pushed for net-neutrality rules.
"The commission could have established clear rules that would give more protections to Internet users than the one approved today," said Gigi Sohn, president of the public interest group Public Knowledge. "Instead, these rules will be subject to manipulation by telephone and cable companies."

The FCC has justified its exemption of wireless broadband by noting that mobile technology is evolving quickly and that cellular networks have significant capacity limitations. Voice-over-Internet services such as Skype will be among a narrow category of competing applications that cannot be blocked by a mobile service provider under the measure.Genachowski said the rules were intended to cut down the middle of contentious high-stakes debates among cable and telecom companies that opposed the rules and Internet giants such as Google and Skype that have lobbied for regulations.Launched on December 17, the $1.99 WikiLeaks App offered access to the whistleblower site and the @wikileaks Twitter stream and was described as providing "'instant access to the world's most documented leakage of top secret memos and other confidential government documents," according to a Google cached version of the site provided by TechCrunch. The app was created by a third-party development firm called Hint Solutions, which lists Igor Barinov as its general manager.

But as of late last night, Barinov had confirmed both in his own Twitter feed and in an e-mail to TechCrunch that Apple has removed the WikiLeaks app from sale without further explanation at this point.who has filed a criminal battery complaint against Lindsay, was embroiled in a bitter divorce last year. Holland's husband claims in legal docs obtained by TMZ, she accused him of cheating and one day, "She got out of bed. She hit me."In another incident in 2008, Dawn's husband claims she "lost control, broke up a lot of my personal property and attacked me, kicking me in the leg and causing a contusion."For her part, Dawn claims her hubby viciously attacked her on several occasions.Dawn -- who is now divorced -- has a restraining order against her ex-husband, but his petition for one was denied.SA

The House passed a measure to overhaul the nation's food-safety laws by a vote of 215 to 144 Tuesday afternoon, and President Obama is expected to sign it into law as soon as Wednesday.
The vote marked the final hurdle for a bill that cleared an unusual number of obstacles, despite enjoying bipartisan support and backing from a wide array of groups across the political spectrum, from the Consumers Union to the Chamber of Commerce."This is a big victory for consumers that finally brings food-safety laws into the 21st century," said Jean Halloran of Consumers Union. "This win is a powerful testament to the people across the country who came to Washington to tell their lawmakers how contaminated food had killed their loved ones or left them horribly sick. This win is for them and all Americans. But some critics said the new legislation will expand the reach of the federal government without making food safer. "The federal food bureaucracy needs to get smarter and better coordinated, not more omnipotent," said Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.).

The proposal survived filibuster threats in the Senate, constitutional confusion and tensions between big agricultural companies and the burgeoning local food movement. The setbacks repeatedly sent the bill back to both chambers, where new challenges arose. In the end, the House voted on it three times and the Senate twice. The legislation will affect all whole and processed foods except meat, poultry and some egg products, which are regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It is the first major change to the nation's food safety laws since 1938, and comes after a series of national outbreaks of food-borne illnesses linked to a wide varietyof foods, including spinach, peanuts and eggs. "I beg you, the safety of your constituents is at stake," Rep. John D. Dingell (D-Mich.) said during debate on the House floor.Unlike the current system, which relies on federal officials to trace the source of an outbreak to its origin after consumers have become ill, the new requirements are designed to create a system in which manufacturers and farmers come up with strategies to prevent contamination, then continually test to make sure they work.

The bill includes an exemption for small farmers and food processors, and those who sell directly to the public at farmers markets and farm stands. That exemption was pushed by advocates for local food, who argued that small producers would not be able to afford the testing and record-keeping required by the legislation. But it drew objections from major agricultural producers, which argued that no one should be exempt from producing safe food. The exemptions "will limit the ability of the [Food and Drug Administration] to assure consumers that all foods they purchase, whether at grocery stores, restaurants, farm markets or elsewhere, have met the same food-safety standards," said Robert Guenther of United Fresh Produce Association, which represents the major fruit and vegetable growers. "We remain fearful that this profound error will come back to haunt Congress, public health agencies and even those who thought they would benefit from food safety exemptions, but more importantly, we are fearful of what may slip through the food safety loopholes . . . and adversely affect consumers."

The measure also gives the FDA the authority to recall food; now, it must rely on food companies to voluntarily pull products off the shelves. And the bill would give the FDA access to internal records at farms and food-production facilities. The bill would for the first time require importers to verify that their products from overseas meet U.S. safety standards.
One in six Americans becomes ill from tainted food each year, and 3,000 die, according to government estimates. Businesses spend billions of dollars as a result of lost sales, recalls and legal expenses triggered by the problem. The measure is expected to cost $1.4 billion over the next four years, including the expense of hiring 2,000 new FDA inspectors.SA

Are you a control-freak who likes to plan things out and then expect everything to happen in that order smoothly? You can boast all you want about your talent of a perfect planner but a tight rope walk on a scheduled plan is not FUN. It's like closing door on delightful experiences of a free soul.

You'd be amazed to find how far most of us go when we plan our holiday trips. It's like we want everything done in a particular fashion, all planned in advance. From booking our flight tickets to hotel reservations - we make sure its done right.

It's definitely interesting to go off on a holiday, without planning.

I think, last minute plans on a short notice that is sort of unplanned and just spontaneous is exciting and fun. A bit of mystery, uncertainty adds a spark of adventure in the experience.

The next time, you want to take your family out to a special location...keep it a secret, tell them a day before and watch how they react. They would probably fret, worry, scream, shout and even force you to cancel your holiday plan. Try it anyways!! You will thank me
